These Terms govern access to and use of Citizen iD, including the website, account system, OAuth2/OpenID Connect identity provider, RSI verification features, public profile features, community tools, developer tools, APIs, Discord bot, Discord integrations, and related services.
Citizen iD is not operated by, endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Cloud Imperium Games, Roberts Space Industries, Star Citizen, Discord, Google, Twitch, or any other third-party provider unless that provider expressly states otherwise.
1. Plain-language summary
Citizen iD is a community identity and integration service for Star Citizen players, communities, and developers. You can sign in through supported external providers, verify control of an RSI account, authorize applications to receive selected claims, and use Discord/community integrations.
You must be at least 16. You must use your own accounts. You may have multiple Citizen iD accounts only where each account corresponds to a different RSI/game account that you own or control. Do not impersonate others, evade bans, misuse APIs, abuse communities, scrape, attack the service, or use Citizen iD data to train AI models.
Citizen iD is free at this time and does not charge for paid tiers, subscriptions, donations, credits, or digital goods.
2. The service
Citizen iD may allow users to:
- sign in through external identity providers;
- create and manage a Citizen iD account;
- verify control of an RSI account;
- maintain profile, avatar, and discovery settings;
- authorize OAuth/OIDC applications to receive selected identity claims;
- manage community, developer, role, scope, application, and branding settings;
- use Discord linked roles, role sync, nickname sync, and bot integrations;
- submit limited community, application, profile, Discord nickname, and branding metadata;
- export account data.
Some features may be experimental, restricted, unfinished, role-gated, admin-approved, temporarily unavailable, or available only in selected environments.
3. Eligibility
Citizen iD accounts are intended for natural persons. You may use community, developer, or staff features only if you are a natural person acting with appropriate authority for the relevant community, application, or project.
To use Citizen iD, you must:
- be at least 16 years old;
- have parent or guardian permission if you are under 18;
- have legal capacity to agree to these Terms;
- not be barred from using the service under applicable law;
- use your own external provider, Discord, and RSI accounts;
- provide accurate account, profile, community, developer, and verification information.
Users under 13 may not use Citizen iD. If Citizen iD learns that an ineligible account was created, Citizen iD may restrict, suspend, anonymize, or delete it while retaining limited security and abuse-prevention records where appropriate.
4. Accounts and external providers
Citizen iD uses supported external sign-in providers and application cookies. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the external provider accounts you use to sign in.
You must not:
- share your account or sign-in credentials;
- let another person use your account;
- create or use accounts to impersonate another person;
- create or use accounts to evade enforcement, bypass rate limits, bypass RSI-pairing rules, or mislead communities or applications;
- provide false, misleading, or unauthorized account, profile, RSI, Discord, community, application, or provider information.
Multiple Citizen iD accounts are allowed only where each account corresponds to a separate RSI/game account that you own or control, such as an alternate game account. Citizen iD may restrict, merge, suspend, or terminate accounts used for abuse, impersonation, evasion, or integrity bypass.
You may link or unlink external accounts only through supported product flows. Some links, including RSI verification links, are not self-service unlinkable because they are used for trust, anti-abuse, duplicate-verification prevention, and ban-evasion controls.
5. RSI verification
Citizen iD may let you verify that you control an RSI account by asking you to place a generated verification string in your RSI profile bio or another public RSI/Spectrum profile field. If verification succeeds, Citizen iD may link your RSI account to your Citizen iD account, grant verified status, create related claims, and periodically refresh public RSI/Spectrum profile or organization data.
RSI verification is a trusted game-account ownership check. It is not a guarantee of real-world identity, age, government identity, payment status, character, reputation, or any legal characteristic.
By using RSI verification, you agree that:
- you control the RSI account you are attempting to verify;
- you will not attempt to verify an RSI account that belongs to someone else;
- Citizen iD may sync public RSI profile and organization data for service integrity and account verification;
- Citizen iD may retain RSI verification records where necessary to prevent duplicate verification, abuse, ban evasion, impersonation, or trust-system bypass;
- there is no non-RSI alternative for RSI verification at this time.
Citizen iD may remove, suspend, or change verified status if verification can no longer be confirmed, if the RSI profile changes, if duplicate verification or abuse is detected, if an administrator unverifies the account, or if continued verification would create legal, safety, security, or integrity risk.
You may request limited operator review of verification problems, scheduled unverification, or ban-related issues by contacting hi@citizenid.space or using the official Discord support channel.
6. OAuth/OIDC applications
Citizen iD may act as an OAuth2/OpenID Connect identity provider. Applications may request scopes and claims. You decide whether to authorize an application through the consent flow where consent is required.
Authorized applications may receive personal data and identity claims covered by approved scopes, such as account identifiers, profile information, avatar information, email information, role information, provider identifiers, Discord information, RSI information, and community-related claims.
Revoking authorization stops future disclosures through Citizen iD, but it may not delete data already received by the application. Contact the application operator for requests about data it already holds.
Developers, integrators, OAuth client operators, and community operators are also subject to the Developer Terms of Use.
7. Discord integrations
Citizen iD may provide Discord login, linked roles, bot commands, role sync, nickname sync, and support through Discord.
Participating Discord servers with Citizen iD integrations may enforce server-specific rules that automatically change your roles or server nickname. Those changes are configured and controlled by the relevant Discord server owners and moderators.
Depending on your settings and the server configuration, Citizen iD may send Discord role metadata such as Citizen iD account status, verified status, public RSI username, username, display name, and similar integration claims.
You may opt out of Discord sync only by unlinking your Discord account where supported or by leaving the relevant Discord server. Unlinking may not be possible if Discord is your last supported sign-in method unless you first add another supported sign-in method.
8. Communities, developers, and staff
Community administrators are responsible for their communities, Discord servers, role mappings, OAuth applications, local server rules, member communications, and any personal data they receive from Citizen iD or process independently.
Communities are not required by Citizen iD to maintain a separate privacy notice, but it is strongly recommended if they receive Citizen iD claims, operate OAuth clients, run Discord integrations, or otherwise process user data.
Developer and staff access is currently admin-approved. Citizen iD may change approval processes, open or restrict developer access, suspend applications, revoke credentials, or disable integrations at any time for security, legal, abuse-prevention, user-safety, product-integrity, or operational reasons, including without specifying a reason.
9. User content and license
You retain ownership of content and metadata you submit to Citizen iD, including display names, usernames, profile settings, community metadata, application metadata, redirect URIs, Discord nickname preferences, and branding asset URLs or descriptions.
You grant Citizen iD a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, modify for formatting or security, moderate, distribute, and otherwise use that content as needed to operate, secure, improve, promote, and provide Citizen iD and its integrations. This includes use of submitted community, application, and branding content in public pages, product materials, and marketing or promotional materials where reasonable and lawful.
You represent that you have all rights needed to submit the content and grant this license. Do not submit content that infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, contract, confidentiality, or other rights.
Feedback, ideas, suggestions, and improvement proposals may be used by Citizen iD without compensation or obligation to you.
10. Acceptable use
You must not use Citizen iD to:
- violate law or third-party rights;
- impersonate others or misrepresent account, RSI, Discord, community, staff, or developer authority;
- harass, threaten, abuse, dox, defame, stalk, discriminate against, or exploit others;
- submit illegal, hateful, abusive, sexually exploitative, violent, misleading, infringing, malicious, spammy, or deceptive content;
- upload or reference malware, phishing, credential-harvesting, exploit, or harmful code;
- attack, scan, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, bypass rate limits, or interfere with the service except as allowed by a written vulnerability-disclosure process;
- misuse OAuth scopes, tokens, roles, claims, APIs, Discord integrations, or community tools;
- use Citizen iD data, APIs, profiles, claims, exports, or integrations to train, fine-tune, evaluate, build, or improve AI, machine-learning, biometric, surveillance, profiling, or advertising systems;
- sell personal data, share personal data for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising, or use Citizen iD claims for advertising unless Citizen iD gives explicit written permission and users receive all legally required notices and choices;
- evade bans, verification limits, moderation, account restrictions, security controls, or anti-abuse systems.
11. Moderation, reports, and review
Citizen iD may review, approve, reject, remove, hide, disable, or restrict account data, community metadata, application metadata, branding assets, roles, scopes, authorizations, integrations, public profiles, or accounts for security, legal, abuse-prevention, quality, integrity, copyright, trademark, privacy, or policy reasons.
Citizen iD retains editorial discretion over public/community/application/branding content and service-integrity decisions.
Reports and review requests are handled by email and Discord tickets. There is no separate in-product formal complaint system at this time.
- General content, moderation, privacy, copyright, or legal reports: hi@citizenid.space
- Security reports: admin@citizenid.space
- Official Discord support: https://discord.citizenid.space
Where applicable law requires notice, explanation, complaint handling, or appeal, Citizen iD will provide the process required by that law. Citizen iD does not take a final position in these Terms on whether any specific DSA intermediary-service category applies to all or part of the service.
12. Payments
Citizen iD is currently free and does not charge users for paid tiers, subscriptions, donations, credits, virtual goods, digital goods, or payment-card transactions.
Any RSI referral, UEC, game-package, free-fly, or Star Citizen purchase information is provided by or relates to RSI/Cloud Imperium Games and is governed by their terms, not Citizen iD’s terms.
If Citizen iD introduces paid features, separate payment, refund, cancellation, tax, renewal, and consumer-rights terms will be provided before the paid feature becomes available.
13. Third parties
Citizen iD depends on third-party services, including external sign-in providers, RSI/Spectrum, Discord, Discord communities and servers, OAuth/OIDC client applications, community operators, analytics, CDN, hosting, support, secrets, deployment providers, and external asset providers.
Citizen iD does not operate or control third-party services, third-party communities, Discord servers, OAuth/OIDC client applications, RSI/Roberts Space Industries/Cloud Imperium Games services, external account providers, support tools, hosting providers, or their staff, moderators, operators, policies, availability, security, data processing, or moderation decisions.
Citizen iD does not guarantee that third-party services will be available, accurate, secure, lawful, compatible, correctly configured, or willing to accept Citizen iD claims, roles, verification status, profile data, Discord role sync, nickname sync, or OAuth/OIDC outputs. Your relationship with a third-party service is governed by that service’s own terms, policies, and configuration.
Citizen iD may transmit or make available information to third-party services only as described in the Privacy Policy, Cookie Notice, OAuth authorization screens, community/Discord integration settings, or as reasonably necessary for the requested integration.
14. Citizen iD intellectual property
Citizen iD and its service design, branding, software, documentation, interfaces, content, and other materials are owned by the operator or licensed to the operator, except for user content and third-party materials.
You may not copy, modify, sell, sublicense, exploit, or use Citizen iD branding or materials except as permitted by these Terms, the service, applicable open-source licenses, or written permission.
All third-party names, marks, and content remain the property of their respective owners.
15. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains how Citizen iD processes personal data. By using Citizen iD, you acknowledge the Privacy Policy and any Cookie Notice or additional policy that applies to the feature you use.
16. Availability and beta features
Citizen iD is provided without any uptime, availability, response-time, support-time, data-delivery, verification-success, role-sync, or service-level commitment. Features may be changed, suspended, limited, discontinued, or unavailable at any time.
Beta, preview, development, or experimental features may be incomplete, unstable, inaccurate, or changed without notice.
No statement in the service, documentation, roadmap, support channel, status page, Discord message, or public post creates an uptime guarantee, service-level agreement, warranty, or support commitment unless it is expressly identified as a written SLA and accepted by the operator.
17. Suspension and termination
Citizen iD may restrict, suspend, disable, anonymize, delete, or terminate accounts, applications, communities, credentials, authorizations, roles, claims, integrations, or content immediately where reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, user safety, legal compliance, provider restrictions, policy violations, or service integrity. Citizen iD may also act without prior notice in urgent, security, abuse, or legal-risk cases.
Where practical and appropriate, Citizen iD may provide notice or an opportunity for review. Review requests may be sent to hi@citizenid.space or through the official Discord support channel.
Citizen iD does not currently delete dormant accounts solely because of inactivity.
Security, abuse, ban, RSI verification, moderation, and legal records may be retained after account closure where necessary.
18. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Citizen iD is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties, guarantees, representations, or service-level commitments of any kind.
Citizen iD does not warrant or guarantee that:
- the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, compatible with your systems, or always available;
- the service will prevent all abuse, impersonation, security incidents, unauthorized access, misconfiguration, or third-party misuse;
- RSI, Discord, Google, Twitch, Cloudflare, PostHog, GitHub, support tools, hosting providers, OAuth/OIDC applications, Discord communities, community operators, or other third-party services will be available, accurate, secure, lawful, or correctly configured;
- third-party communities, Discord servers, OAuth/OIDC applications, developers, moderators, or staff will use Citizen iD data, roles, claims, or verification status lawfully, fairly, accurately, or consistently;
- RSI/Spectrum profile, account, organization, membership, or public profile data will be complete, current, reliable, available, or error-free;
- RSI verification, verified status, scheduled unverification, Discord linked roles, Discord role sync, nickname sync, OAuth/OIDC claims, public profiles, avatars, or community/app metadata will always be correct, current, accepted by third parties, or suitable for any particular decision;
- public profile data, third-party profile data, community metadata, branding assets, user-submitted content, support information, or analytics information will be complete, accurate, or suitable for your intended purpose;
- the service will meet your specific needs, expectations, legal requirements, business requirements, community requirements, or technical requirements.
Citizen iD does not provide legal, identity, trust, reputation, age, government-ID, employment, financial, safety, or real-world identity certification. RSI verification is a trusted game-account ownership check only.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, remedies, or rights that cannot be excluded under mandatory law.
19. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Citizen iD is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available,” without any service-level commitment. Citizen iD is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, exemplary, or lost-profit damages, or for loss caused by third-party services, third-party OAuth/OIDC applications, Discord communities or servers, RSI/Roberts Space Industries/Cloud Imperium Games services, external account providers, user-submitted content, provider outages, inaccurate third-party data, community moderation, Discord role or nickname changes, or unauthorized third-party conduct, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, harm to a person’s natural rights, mandatory consumer rights, or data-protection liability.
For users acting in a business, developer, staff, community-operator, integrator, moderator, or other non-consumer capacity, and only to the extent permitted by applicable law, Citizen iD’s aggregate liability is limited to EUR 100 or the amount paid to Citizen iD for the relevant service in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is greater. Because Citizen iD is currently provided free of charge, this cap is a risk allocation for non-consumer use and does not limit mandatory rights.
For non-consumer, developer, integrator, community-admin, moderator, and staff use, you agree to indemnify and hold Citizen iD and the operator harmless from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your applications, communities, integrations, content, unlawful processing, misuse of data, security incidents caused by you, breach of these Terms, or violation of law or third-party rights, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Consumer users are not required to indemnify Citizen iD except to the extent allowed by applicable law.
20. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, with applicable EU law where relevant.
Disputes will be handled by Czech courts unless mandatory consumer-protection, privacy, or other law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
Before filing a claim, contact hi@citizenid.space and provide a reasonable description of the dispute so the parties can try to resolve it informally.
No arbitration or class-action waiver is included in these Terms.
21. Changes
Citizen iD may update these Terms when the service, law, providers, or operating practices change. Material changes will be posted on the website and, where appropriate, communicated through the service or official support channels.
Your continued use of Citizen iD after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
